My Name is David Norris and this is my story about my R-3 saved my life.

            Me and my buddy were racing The M.O.R.E. Toys for Tots 200 mile desert race  in Barstow, Ca. on December 6 2008. I was riding shotgun, he was driving when about halfway  through the race my buddy decided to take a different line through this really wide section of whoops while cresting the hill about 60 mph while not knowing whats on the other side, Slam we hit a 3  foot ditch. The car came to an immediate stop, and Joey and I were in so much pain it was unbeliveable i called my pit so they could radio  some paramedics. Paramedics showed up and cut my R-3 off of me which I told them I didn't want them to. We were in so much pain that they took the Jaws of life and cut the top of the racecar off to get us out of there. We were both airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center in Redlands Ca. Hours and Hours of Ct and Mri Scans Dr. came in and said  He had good news and bad news. Bad news is that I had broken my back. I fractured my L-2, L-3, vertabra  and compressed L-2, L-3, L-4, L-5 Disc. The good news was that If i had not have been wearing my R-3 I could of broke my neck or have done worse damage to my body because of the amount of G-Force my body took during the crash. Joey checked out of the hospital with a hairline fracture and is up and racing already. I had to undergo Surgery on December 23, 2009 With Dr. Johnny Steinmann to Fix my back. It was a 5 hour surgery but everything came out perfect. He took my L-4, L-5 Disc out replaced it with a cadaver  femur bone and I now have 2 6'' 

titanium Rods and 6 screws. Its been 8-9 weeks since my surgery and i feel great. Dr. said that i could get back in the racecar toward the end of the year so im soo pumped. So I would like to thank safety solutions for making a wonderful product  R-3 That saved my life.

Derek and I were pleased to meet you at the Motorsports show this past weekend.  We really appreciate the time you spent with Derek in the car making sure his new Hybrid Pro restraint was properly fitted.  I love to support those companies that go beyond to ensure their product performs as designed.  Your attention to detail and willingness to share your experience means a great deal to me as a consumer and father of a sprint car driver.  Your efforts also pointed out that we need to conduct some work on our seat to better direct the belts over the driver and Hybrid device.  We did not know this before and are glad that we discovered this before it was too late.

 

Thanks again and I will rest much easier knowing your product is protecting my son while he is in the car.

Hi Trevor...and thank you VERY much for the help at Watkins Glen fitting my new R3 restraint.

 

As I told you....After borrowing my son's HANS device for 3 seasons, I thought it might be the end of my driving career.  I was that uncomfortable.  The R3 is a perfect fit...and I was absolutely amazed how unobtrusive it is.  When I am wearing it I have virtually no sense of restriction or any bulkiness between my helmet and seat belts.  You cannot drive a race car unless you are 100% comfortable in the cockpit.  With the R3...I am 100% comfortable!

 

Thank you for coming to our paddock spot to fit the R3 to my foam seat.  That is going the extra mile...and it was much appreciated!

My Personal Thank You

Aaron,

 

It’s been many weeks since Bonneville and I suspect that you have provided help to so many racers during this period that you have all but forgotten Bonneville.  I for one have not.  Your help and guidance was deeply appreciated by myself and my team.  The time you spent educating us on the proper use, fit and operation of the Hybrid-x was truly a highlight of the week.  I would never have believed that a few minor adjustments to the belts and Hybrid-x would not only make my driving experience more comfortable, but actually make me feel safer.  My emergency exit procedure became automatic and twice as fast after your assistance.

 

Safety Solutions has a new customer and advocate – me!  From now on, when asked my opinion of head and neck restraints – not only will I tell people that I trust my life to a Hybrid-X, but that the company stands head and neck (excuse the pun) above their competition by providing service and support right where we need it – at the race track. 

 

Please share this note with the management and owners of Safety Solutions.  I realize it’s an significant investment they make to send you and perhaps others to Bonneville and other track events.  I want them to know that their investment is paying off.
